Hello! I’m Ashish Srivastava, an independent filmmaker, video editor, and content creator with a deep passion for storytelling and visual creativity. Hailing from Gorakhpur, India, I’ve spent years honing my craft and developing a unique voice in the world of filmmaking.

My Journey

My journey into the world of filmmaking began with a simple curiosity and love for visual storytelling. Over the years, I have evolved into a multifaceted creator, wearing many hats including writer, director, and editor. With a strong foundation in Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects, I have developed a keen eye for detail and a knack for bringing stories to life on screen.

Professional Experience

With 5 years of experience in Premiere Pro and extensive expertise in After Effects, I have worked on a wide array of projects, from short films and ad films to motion posters and content for social media. One of my notable works includes editing an ad film for "Monkoodog," where I showcased my ability to create compelling visual narratives that resonate with audiences.

Passion Projects

One of my most cherished projects is my short film "Dear Kumud," which I wrote, directed, and edited. This film allowed me to explore complex themes and showcase my storytelling abilities. Additionally, I run a celebrity fan page for Rasha Thadani on Instagram, where I create engaging reels and content, reflecting my love for both filmmaking and social media content creation. 

Current Endeavors

Currently, I am relaunching a satirical show called 'भोजपुरिया भौकाल' with the slogan 'भौकाल बनल रही.' This show, which was previously closed, is making a comeback with a fresh twist, and I am excited to bring new energy and perspective to it.

Future Aspirations

Looking ahead, my career plan involves creating impactful films that highlight social issues and cultural narratives. I am particularly interested in developing a film based on a mythological love story set in Banaras and am keen on collaborating with notable actors like Ravi Kisan for this project. I am also exploring the idea of creating a narrative film from the perspective of my cat, delving into her feelings and experiences.

At the core of my work is a deep passion for filmmaking, editing, and storytelling. I believe in the power of visual media to evoke emotions, provoke thoughts, and inspire change. Each project I undertake is a step towards mastering my craft and sharing meaningful stories with the world.

About Ashish Srivastava

Ashish is a film director who has been working in the industry for over a year. They started their career as an assistant director and still working as my assistant director.  In 2021 they made their directorial debut with the film "Dear Kumud". The film was an official selection at several film festivals, and it won the award for Best Short Film at the Kalakari Film Festival.

Ashish is passionate about storytelling, and they love to write, read, and create films. They are always coming up with new ideas for films, and they are excited to make their next project this year.

In addition to their work as a director, Ashish is also a talented writer. They have written several short stories and screenplays, and they are currently working on a Experimental film.

Ashish is a rising star in the film industry, and they are sure to continue to make great films in the years to come.

Dear Kumud Soundtrack

Dear Kumud

The reason behind writing this story was that sometimes people are unable to move on from the situation and they become victims of mental illness. Girish's story is also similar, after Kumud's death he is unable to accept that reality and he gets stuck in trauma.

I wrote this film in August 2021, but I needed a good team to make this film. Who can understand the spirit of the film and can give his 100% in completing it.

I was new to Delhi and in all seriousness I was also not fully prepared to make this film. But when I started meeting Vaibhav Bhaiya in connection with work, he told me that he would make a film, then I told him the script of "Dear kumud".

The film was to start in February 2022, but due to being associated with the theatre, it got postponed till August 2022. We took advantage of the postponement of this film that we added more people with us and wrote the script and narration in a better way.

It was a lot of fun working with this crew as everyone was in the same band 🙊 and had an eagerness to learn.

This film will always be special to me because this story is very close to my heart, and this is my first film which I have made for the film festival.

We had some delays creating this film because we did not have the budget for this film, due to this we thought many times that we should shoot this film with the phone itself, but the quality of the phone was not satisfying us.

Wo Ab Bhi Pukarta Hai

'वो अब भी पुकारता है' नाटक से पता चलता है कि भारत में जिस जाति की समस्या को बहुत पहले ख़त्म हो जाना चाहिए था, वह आधुनिक युग की इस सदी में भी अपनी जड़े जमाए हुए है। और न सिर्फ़ जड़े जमाए हुए है बल्कि उसके अन्तर को बनाए रखने के लिए श्रेष्ठ वर्ण किसी भी हद तक जा सकता है।

पीयूष मिश्रा की सधी हुई क़लम से चम्बल में अछूत जाति के साथ अत्याचार की पृष्ठभूमि पर बुना गया यह नाटक अपने ताने-बाने और बुंदेली बोली के रंग में इतना सशक्त है कि प्रभाव पाठ के अन्त तक बना रहता है।

हरिजन जाति का एक पढ़ा-लिखा युवक ठकुराइन सुमन्ती के ही संकेत पर 'भौजी' क्या कहता है, ठाकुर हरिभान सिंह को यह बात इस तरह नागवार गुजरती है कि वह उसकी हत्या कर देता है। इस हत्या का चश्मदीद गवाह उसी की बिरादरी का कच्ची ताड़ी है जो केस जीतने में मदद कर सकता था, लेकिन ठाकुर के प्रभाव में अन्तत: पलट जाता है। इससे मंगल की दादी बुड्ढो बहुत आहत होती है और एक दिन उस ठाकुर हरिभान सिंह की कुल्हाड़े से हत्या कर देती है जिसके पिता ने कभी मंगल की माँ की हत्या कर दी थी, क्योंकि वह बहुत सुन्दर थी।

ग्रामीण परिवेश में रचित इस नाटक में ऐसे कई मार्मिक प्रसंग हैं जिनसे तुरन्त उबर पाना आसान नहीं-जैसे मरघट में मृत्यु-विलाप, मंगल से प्रेम करनेवाली कजरी की सन्देहास्पद परिस्थितियों में हत्या हो जाना आदि।

अपने स्वरूप में वो अब भी पुकारता है' जाति के नाम पर शोषण और अत्याचारों से टकराता एक ऐसा नाटक है जिसके बहुत सारे सवालों का जवाब लेखक ने कुशलतापूर्वक दिया है, और जो छूट गए हैं उनके जवाब पाठकों को अपने विवेक से ख़ुद तलाशने होंगे।
